Dear Friend of the Advocate:
These are exciting and challenging times in The Church
of the Advocate's life. We opened our office for
the next three years at 403 West Weaver Street
in Carrboro on February 1. And we have signed
a contract to purchase fifteen acres of land on
Homestead Road.
Thanks to the generous support of Friends and People
of the Advocate, we met the goal of raising $500,000
by Easter, 2008. We are now seeking an additional
$750,000 over the next three years to cover the
rest of the payment and the cost of architect's
drawings and of getting through the town process
to acquire a Special Use Permit and a Building
Permit.
The time has come in the life of this mission when
we need land. With your help we can make this
dream a reality. Our congregation is vibrant and
growing despite the challenge of so many young
adults moving away as they finish their professional
education. While we add new members, we still
need your help to make this congregation viable
and self-sustaining. The Homestead Road location
is just north of the future Carolina North campus
and just south of Interstate 40. It is next to
new subdivisions filled with young families and
is visible to people headed to the Seymour Senior
Center who may not have a church home. It is large
enough for whatever facility and parking we may
be called to develop, with space left over for
a contemplative and peaceful landscape. We feel
that this is a wonderful opportunity to solidify
a new congregation in our fast growing area. Will
you help us?
Please fill out the enclosed pledge form and help
the Advocate acquire land. Thank you for your
consideration of this exciting challenge.
Faithfully,
The Advocate Phase One Capital Campaign Committee
